The Mental Ward: Less Is More…..

MW

I first discovered pro wrestling in the mid-1980s. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes doing battle with “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton inside a steel cage is one of my earliest wrestling memories. However, when I saw “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and Sting go 60 minutes at the first Clash of the Champions, I was hooked for life. THAT was storytelling. THAT was drama. THAT was pro wrestling. In my youth Hulkamania ran wild. In my high school and college years, The Attitude Era redefined the industry. In my adult years, things just haven’t been the same. A spark is missing. The sport I loved has morphed into something almost unrecognizable at times. Yet, I still watch. I cling to hope that pro wrestling will one day again return to past glory. Webster defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Ladies and gentlemen, come on in. We’re all friends here. Welcome back to, “The Mental Ward.”

The PWA Show: Absolutely Fantastic…..

Bobby Fulton

Episode 16 is the biggest and quite possibly best episode of The PWA Show yet! Chad and Keila cover all the news from the past week in pro wrestling including: the fallout from WWE Extreme Rules and RAW, big changes to the creative team in TNA, the legacy of the late Verne Gagne, the upcoming ROH and New Japan joint shows, and the rise of Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling. This week one half of the legendary Fantastics, Bobby Fulton, is the guest on “The PWA Hotseat”. He discusses his career, family, and faith. Bobby pulls no punches as he discusses his early days in the sport of pro wrestling, teaming with Eric Embry and Terry Taylor before finally being paired with Tommy Rogers in Mid-South Wrestling, memorable battles against the bloodthirsty Sheepherders and The Midnight Express, the state of the pro wrestling industry today, plus very candid thoughts on Vince McMahon and why he feels ripped off by the WWE Chairman. Trust us, you DO NOT want to miss this episode of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

The PWA Show: WrestleMania Extravaganza

WM 31 Poster

This week Chad & Keila look at all the news from the world of pro wrestling including Brock Lesnar’s decision to remain with WWE and what affect that will have going forward on the WrestleMania main event and beyond. They debate the card top to bottom for Sunday’s Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment giving their predictions on each and every match. They also discuss the terrible tragedy that occurred in Tijuana last weekend which saw Perro Aguayo Jr. pass away after injuries sustained in a match. Chad gives his frank and honest thoughts on the irresponsible and usually disgusting way that the “main stream media” reports on pro wrestling stories. This week “The PWA Hotseat” is occupied by a 3-Time WWE World Tag Team Champion and 2-Time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, “The Ironman” Rob Conway. Rob takes listeners through his early days breaking into pro wrestling in Louisville, KY at OVW, his time in WWE as a member of La Resistance, and the last few years of his career which have brought him even greater success in the NWA representing that company as its World Champion on two occasions. Fans, you don’t want to miss this Wrestlemania sized edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

In the long storied history of professional wrestling, many spandex clad gladiators have grabbed our attention and captured our imaginations. These colorful characters remain in the deepest recesses of our minds years after their glory days in the ring have passed. The most memorable grapplers from our years of wrestling fandom are often those that we encounter early on in our initial discovery of the mat game. This column will take a weekly look at some of the most bizarre, flamboyant, charismatic, and downright terrifying pro wrestlers of all time.

The PWA Show: The Road to WrestleMania

ROAD TO MANIA

In this week’s show Chad & Keila once again examine the world of pro wrestling. They have a lively discussion about this past Monday’s RAW and the affect it will have on WrestleMania 31. How do they feel about Jon Stewart’s involvement? Does a loss this past Monday night help Roman Reigns?  Why does WWE rely on the same lazy distraction finishes week after week? What’s the latest dirt on the WWE Divas? Halfpint also checks in with his “Halfpint’s Point” segment as he examines The Undertaker and his involvement in WrestleMania. Hear thoughts on all those topics plus: the futures of former world champions, Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio; the merits of inter-gender matches in pro wrestling; an ROH 13th Anniversary PPV re-cap; and an exclusive interview with former NWA Television Champion and NWA Australian Heavyweight Champion, Jeremiah Plunkett, as he climbs aboard “The PWA Hotseat”. Chad also has some exciting news about next week’s episode! Don’t miss all this and more on this week’s edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority.
