The PWA Show: Choosing Sides…..

EPISODE 46

Episode 46 finds Chad & Keila examining the confusing state of WWE storylines leading into this Sunday’s TLC PPV. Why are The Wyatt Family, a heel faction, picking a fight with The League of Nations, another heel stable? Why is the babyface WWE Divas Champion, Charlotte, suddenly displaying heelish tactics in her feud against Paige who had made this rivalry very personal with some of her previous comments? Why do The New Day continue to be playful, lovable, entertaining babyfaces even though they are heels? Pick a side people! It’s no wonder ratings for RAW are the lowest since the mid-90s era of cartoonish gimmicks which saw clowns, plumbers, and garbage men compete inside a WWE ring. The PWA Mailbag is once again opened and some listener mail is read. These questions cover several interesting topics including forgotten and under appreciated factions, which wrestling personality would make a great podcast host, and what old school booking tools have been eliminated from the arsenal of today’s wrestling presentations. Chad and Keila also make a huge announcement about an exciting opportunity coming their way very soon. Don’t miss this thrill packed edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority.

PWA

Episode 44 comes at you this week with Chad & Keila talking in depth about recent events in the world of pro wrestling. The duo also examine how Tyler Breeze has been presented since his main roster debut and they debate the idea that NXT may not be as mainstream as WWE would like us to believe. Kevin Owens mastery of Twitter is celebrated as Chad reads some of his better Tweets directed at fans recently and also recaps the Twitter war that erupted Monday night between Owens and actress, Melissa Joan Hart. Is this how heels should use social media? Keila offers up advice to WWE on how to more effectively use second and third generation stars without making them carbon copies of their famous fathers. Chad gives old school fans something to digest this week as he looks at the career of Japanese legend, Tenryu, who retired this week; pays his respects to former 4-Time AWA World Champion, Nick Bockwinkel, who passed away over the weekend; and he takes us back 30 years to the formation of the legendary Four Horsemen. Keila also brings up a great point about Kurt Angle and his career in WWE -vs- TNA. This show is loaded and has something for everyone. The Mental Ward: Less Is More…..

MW

I first discovered pro wrestling in the mid-1980s. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes doing battle with “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton inside a steel cage is one of my earliest wrestling memories. However, when I saw “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and Sting go 60 minutes at the first Clash of the Champions, I was hooked for life. THAT was storytelling. THAT was drama. THAT was pro wrestling. In my youth Hulkamania ran wild. In my high school and college years, The Attitude Era redefined the industry. In my adult years, things just haven’t been the same. A spark is missing. The sport I loved has morphed into something almost unrecognizable at times. Yet, I still watch. I cling to hope that pro wrestling will one day again return to past glory. Webster defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Ladies and gentlemen, come on in. We’re all friends here. Welcome back to, “The Mental Ward.”

The PWA Show: Tournament Turmoil…..

Bracket

Episode 43 of The PWA Show centers around the richest prize in the industry being up for grabs! Chad and Keila discuss the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament at length. Which competitors seemed out of place in the bracket? Who can benefit the most from a strong showing throughout the tourney? Who do they believe will comprise the final 4? Who could be a dark horse winner? Lots of tournament turmoil is talked about this week. Your tag team co-hosting duo also manage to cover some other topics this week including: another memorable character signing a WWE Legends contract, rumors of a TNA return to Spike TV, changes in the coaching ranks at the WWE Performance Center, plus an exciting announcement of a new program coming your way from Team PWA in 2016. Chad also gives a synopsis of an event that he and “Halfpint” attended last weekend. Did our roving reporter come through with some five star coverage or did he again drop the ball only to disappoint all of our listening audience? Chad & Keila discuss his job performance and his possible fate should he not live up to their lofty expectations in the future. This episode is filled with deep thoughts and big laughs so sit back and enjoy the latest edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

The PWA Show: Survivor Series Shakeup…..

ROLLINS

Episode 42 of The PWA Show is chocked full of news! Chad & Keila recap WWE RAW from Denver as things continue to take shape for the upcoming Survivor Series PPV. They also discuss a couple of legends that returned to the WWE family this week, an upcoming ESPN documentary on “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, another accolade for Nikki Bella, one of the top stars from season 1 of Lucha Underground that won’t be returning, GFW crowning their first set of champions at a recent TV taping, and reports of a new wrestling promotion based out of Las Vegas that will be offering full benefits to its contracted talent. The PWA Mailbag segment returns as questions from listeners are answered concerning memorable moments from the Attitude Era, storylines with huge potential that didn’t live up to the hype, and favorite types of matches enjoyed by your co-hosting duo. Chad also gives the lowdown on a big event taking place in Nashville this weekend that both he and “Halfpint” will be attending featuring WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley, Mickie James, “Cowboy” James Storm, and many more stars. Chad also makes a few announcements concerning the future of the show and some added content that will be coming down the pike. We hope you enjoy another fun and informative edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

Lordy Lordy Look Who’s 40…..

40

Episode 40 of our show comes to you this week with Chad & Keila on top of their collective games! There are some big announcements concerning the show joining forces with a podcast network that will bring The PWA Show to an even wider audience. Our “young boy” AKA Big K The Intern lands a sweet new gig that may be the beginning of a career in pro wrestling. All things WWE are on the agenda this week as Raw is recapped in depth along with other news items leading into our big Hell In A Cell preview. Chad & Keila give their thoughts and predictions on the latest pay per view extravaganza taking place this weekend. The dynamic duo also discuss some TNA news, the Wrestle Kingdom 10 main event set for January 2016 in Tokyo, new NWA World Tag Team Champions being crowned, and some independent wrestling events taking place this weekend around the southeastern United States. As always this episode brings you plenty of news, views, laughs, and thought provoking discussion. Just because we are now officially middle aged, don’t expect us to slow down one bit! Avoid a mid-life crisis with this edition of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

The PWA Show: Old School Is Cool…..

Horsemen

Chad & Keila come to you with this week with the final episode of their 30s focusing heavily on the current state of the WWE. The duo discuss the recent NXT special and the future stars working on that brand. They also cover in great detail this past week’s RAW. John Cena turns in another solid performance defending the United States Title in front of a Chicago crowd that’s more worried about chanting something snarky than actually enjoying the show. Chad approves of the way Braun Strownman has been presented thus far while Keila gets a little upset at the Chi-town crowd for their chants toward Bray Wyatt. The continued misuse of WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, is a topic yet again this week as he suffered another non-title loss on Monday. WWE’s search for their next big Latino star is also examined. Are they only looking to appeal to the large Hispanic population in response to the lowest TV ratings in almost 20 years? The lackluster build to what should be an important PPV in Hell In A Cell also leaves them scratching their proverbial heads. WWE has loaded up the go home edition of RAW next week so all hope is not quite lost just yet. The PWA Mailbag returns as listener questions are answered. Topics include the debacle that has become the Lana/Rusev/Summer Rae/Dolph Ziggler storyline with Lana announcing via Instagram that her and Rusev are officially engaged. Talk then turns to proper use of social media with Chad praising Kevin Owens for his use of Twitter to further his on screen persona rather than joining his modern counterparts and dancing on the grave of kayfabe. Which legend doesn’t get enough credit as one of the all-time greats? Apparently royalty doesn’t ensure immortality in the world of professional wrestling. Old school territories are also covered as Chad fields a question concerning which regional promotions were the most financially successful back in the day. The 29 year anniversary of the near fatal car crash that ended the career of Magnum TA is also discussed as it relates to a great article found at thepwashow.com this week. It’s a little bit of something old with a helping of something new this week on Episode 39 of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!

The Mental Ward: I Loved You to Death…..

Kayfabe

Webster defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Ladies and gentlemen, come on in. We’re all friends here. Welcome back to, “The Mental Ward.”

The PWA Show: Highway to Hell…..In A Cell

Lesnar

Episode 38 comes to you this week with Chad & Keila excited to see “The Beast” Brock Lesnar back on RAW. The duo examine all the highs and lows from this past Monday Night in Boston. They also discuss recent comments by former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk, disparaging both the Susan G. Komen Foundation and professional wrestling as well. Chad also goes into detail about how the WWE has misused The Big Show for the better part of 15 years rendering him useless today. The Divas Revolution is again a hot topic as Keila has some advice for WWE Divas Champion, Charlotte. Chad once again voices his displeasure with John Cena who this time inadvertently cost him an opportunity to hang with “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Stephanie McMahon’s ego is also discussed and how her on screen character always gets the better of every verbal exchange. The current state of TNA is also examined including a new TNA World Heavyweight Champion being crowned at last weekend’s Bound for Glory PPV. The aftermath of that title switch has been interesting to say the least and confusing at best as the future of the company is still up in the air. Our roving reporter, Halfpint, checks in this week with an all new edition of Halfpint’s Point as he covers the importance of a good ring announcer to the overall success of a wrestling event. Enjoy lots of good discussion this week on a variety of topics as well as some shade thrown but, as always, many laughs along the way on this installment of The PWA Show, YOUR pro wrestling authority!
